Why did I choose to play the flute? At age 10, I saw a flute for the first time. I had no idea what it sounded like, but I thought it was shiny and pretty... Once I heard it, I was in love with its beautiful tone!
In 7th grade, I started teaching flute. Immediately I was fascinated with the process of helping another person to play the flute, and to express their personal musical ideas. This passion has never wained.
In college, I first began working with composers to bring across thier music. This began a lifetime of commissions, premieres and recording projects. Promoting music of living composers is one of my main musical passions and is a lifelong mission.
